The Day The Books Went Wild

It was a normal Wednesday morning until the wind started going the other way I was looking down the street into my school and saw pieces of paper flying everywhere. I was shocked that costumes started flying off the paper everyone started changing into characters from books there was Cat in the hat, Matilda, Bluey and Bingo Thing 1 & 2. There were so many costumes I got turned to Thing 1 I was so confused but we decided to show off our costumes and have a parade.

It was so fun to watch and look at. Later in the day we had a book swap that we had kindly given by parents and students to our school. Since we were in such a fun mood all the teachers decided to come around and show their favourite books.

Thank you to the P.T.F.A  for helping us receive  books so we can take them home

Here is the famous Kiara who got turned into the Cat in the Hat

Cultural Day

For the past two weeks we have been learning about different countries then we all got to chose our own country and me and my best friend Imogen decided to choose Australia. There was also an assembly today where people got to say Welcome in their own country I was one of the lucky people who got to say Welcome in Maori. After he assembly we had a little parade performance, there was, a Korean dance,Irish dance and Kapa haka which I was also lucky enough to lead. I think my favourite part of the day was definitely watching my friend and her little sister Breena and Willa preform.

Here is mine and Imogens work

The genre of my story is a horror

Here is our writing piece

The two girls in a hall

One stormy day, I was walking through the woods alone when suddenly out of nowhere I saw a dark spooky house. The door slowly creaked open so I decided to go inside and there was a very long dark hallway that looked like it never ended. There were two girls in blue dresses, both of them had blonde hair and blue eyes and there was one difference about them… one was taller than the other. I asked “What’s your guy’s name?” They responded in sync “ We are Summer and Willa” they strangely did not blink all they did was stare into my soul which terrified me.

I walked away and I found myself in the living room where I saw a girl with glasses, dark brown hair and brown eyes. I couldn’t tell how tall she was because she was sitting down. She asked “Hello, what’s your name? I’m Imogen Miles, I’ve been living here in this broken down house since 1961 and have been stuck here ever since.” “My name’s Pixie-Rose Te Wani” I had heard stories about someone named Imogen and she was a murderer but this girl is probably someone different. She ended up inviting me in for a hot chocolate and some fresh cookies. I went and joined her on the dusty couch and she started asking me about a girl named Olivia and if I had ever heard the story of her death. “ No I have never heard of a girl named Olivia or her story, can you please tell me about it ?” She froze, without moving a single muscle and said “ I bet your parents are worried… why don’t you run home. Come back tomorrow and I’ll tell you all about it”

I walked out of the room but as I opened the noisy door Summer and Willa said “ Don’t come back she will try and kill you! Please just stay away” I left and started thinking if I should go back, if I should stay home or should I tell someone? There were many questions but no answers. I went back home just in time for dinner, which was my mothers iconic bowl of mac n cheese. At dinner my mother asked “How was your day ?” I told her all about my day but I kept the house in the woods a secret.

I headed to my room, that’s where I saw it… a small letter lying on my bed. I called out to my mother and asked if anyone was in my room today, she replied instantly “ No, is something missing?” “ No nothing’s gone missing, just making sure” I said back. I was scared to open the letter but my gut told me to read what the letter said so I opened it and started reading:

Dear Pixie-Rose

It´s Summer and Willa here. We are begging you please stay home. Please, she is trying to kill you. Just this once trust us.

PLEASE STAY AWAY.

I was confused after reading the letter, why did it make me want to go back more? I ended up getting into bed and going to sleep.

The next day it was warm and bright. I got out of bed and mum must have already headed to work and dad still hadn’t gotten back from his work trip so I was in the house alone. It was quiet not a good quiet a very scary quiet

What stories have you written?

Did you do it alone or with someone?

Mantis vs. Moth: The Battle for the Flower

W.A.L.T: Use AI to improve my writing.

Today the Year 7 & 8 were given a task to write about a picture and then use AI to improve it.

Here is my AI writing

One sunny afternoon, I was walking through the park, just enjoying the day, when something green and shiny caught my eye. I looked closer and saw it was a praying mantis! He was standing really still on a leaf, like a little ninja. His big eyes moved slowly, and I could tell he was looking for food.

He crept down the leaf and walked toward a bright purple flower. But when he got there, a fluffy gray moth was already sitting right in the middle, drinking the nectar. The mantis paused for a second, then climbed up the flower very slowly so the moth wouldn’t notice him.

Suddenly, with lightning speed, the mantis pushed the moth off the flower! The moth fluttered away in surprise, and the mantis stood tall, proud of himself. He had the flower all to himself now. He stayed there for a while, maybe enjoying the view or waiting for another snack to come by.

It was so cool to see a real insect adventure right in front of me. I watched him for a bit longer, then kept walking, smiling the whole way home.

Today for Maths the Year 8s got to make a poster with something that we had learnt during Algebra. Willa and I decided to chose to do GEMA

Heres a photo
